Diffusion MRI
Diffusion MRI has provided clinicians with the ability to probe the microstructure of fibrous tissue like white matter in the brain. We work on developing methods to process, analyze, and visualize these complex, high-dimensional images. learn more →
-
Brain Connectivity Development from Diffusion MRI
We employ state-of-the-art diffusion MRI analysis techniques to examine questions of how the human brain develops at an early age. learn more →
-
Fast Random Walker
We are working on developing faster versions of medical image analysis algorithms. By precomputing data offline, we can ensure real-time responsiveness to user interaction. learn more →
-
The Isometric Log-Ratio Transform for Image Analysis
We are working techniques for modeling anatomical shapes that capture meaningful uncertainty information. These shape models are used to identify structures of interest in medical images, and the uncertainty information helps determine what is normal and what is abnormal. learn more →
-
Shape denoising via Template Injection using Binary LDDMM
We work on generating highly smooth segmentation of manual tracings via Template Injection using binary Large Deformation Diffeomorphic Metric Mapping. learn more →

ThickNet Features for Prognostic Applications in Dementia
Regional analysis of cortical thickness has been studied extensively in building imaging biomarkers for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), but not its inter-regional covariation. We present novel features based on the inter-regional co-variation of cortical thickness. We term them Thickness NETwork (ThickNet) features. learn more →

TurtleSeg
Software Download TurtleSeg TurtleSeg is an interactive segmentation tool originally designed for 3D medical images. TurtleSeg is developed at the Medical Image Analysis Lab at Simon Fraser University and the Biomedical Signal and Image Computing Laboratory at the University of British Columbia. Accurate and automatic 3D medical image segmentation remains an elusive goal and manual intervention is often unavoidable. TurtleSeg implements techniques that allow the user to provide intuitive yet minimal interaction for guiding the 3D segmentation process. learn more →

Bilateral Maps for Partial Matching
We introduce the bilateral map, a local shape descriptor whose region of interest is defined by two feature points. Our approach exploits the use of a second point to place more constraints on the selection of the spatial context for feature analysis. learn more →
-
Tongue Tracking
TongueTrack is a software for tracking the tongue motion in 2D ultrasound sequences... learn more →
-
Analysis of Retinal Optical Coherence Tomography
We develop segmentation and analysis algorithms for OCT. learn more →
-
Biomedical Image Simulation
Simulation of 2D and 3D, scalar, colour, vector, and tensor fields, for evaluation and training of medical image analysis methods. learn more →
